Anxiety

1. L-Theanine - Brain scans show that L-Theanine "shifts" the brain into a state similar to when we meditate - called the Alpha brain wave state. L-Theanine is the relaxing amino acid found in green tea and provides a calm sense of focus.

2. Adaptogens (Ashwagandha and Rhodiola Rosea) can reduce the mental and physical effects of stress, including fatigue, mood swings, irritability and anxiety. Ashwagandha tends to be recommended for social anxiety and Rhodiola Rosea more for stress.

3. St. John's Wort - One of the better researched depression herbal supplements available. St. John's Wort activates serotonin signalling - the pleasure neurotransmitter - and is recommended if you are not already taking medication.

4. Magnesium - A deficiency in magnesium causes neuronal excretions which can cause anxiety. Taking Magnesium Gluconate is one popular way of getting elemental magnesium.
